The father feels helpless because his son turns out to be different than what he expected him to be. There is no mutual understanding between the two. Both father and son live in the same house yet they are strangers to each other.
There is little to no talk between the two. His son is spendthrift and wastes all his (father’s) money. In the end, son breaks the silence yet the communication gap remains intact between the two.
