The poem The Duck and The Kangaroo belongs to the genre called nonsense poetry. It does not have any particular theme. However, in the poem, we do find a desire fo adventure and travel. Duck desires to leave its nasty pond and see the world and is ready to compromise when kangaroo tells him the problems.
So, in the poem, there is an urge for adventure and also good friendship which is based on sacrifice and compromise.
