The poem is titled as “A Legend of the Northland” as in this poem the poet narrates a legend (story) which is famous and known in Northland. This legend has a moral lesson. Hence the poet narrates it to us so that we may also know how greed can destroy us. This legend is of a woman who was transformed into a bird because of her excessive greed.
