In the poem Trees , the tree itself is described in terms of a lady because the poet refers it as “her” in 3rd and 4th couplets. In addition, its branches are described as hair and its upper part is referred to as bosom (which means breasts of female). And the poet also describes how the spring breeze and the rain tease it, kiss it and also do love making. Hence tree symbolises a female in this poem.
