The ant is wise while the cricket is a fool because the ant made the best use of time. During the spring and summer seasons, the ant collected all the food and made shelter for himself.
On the other hand, the cricket did not do anything. Instead of caring about the future (the winters), he wasted his time in singing and enjoying.
When the winter appears, the ant has ample of food as well as shelter. On the other hand, the cricket has neither food nor shelter. Hence the ant is wiser.
