The narrator always held the work made by Mr. Gessler in high regards. He said they were too beautiful- the pair of pumps, so inexpressibly slim, the patent leathers with cloth tops, making water come into one’s mouth, the tall brown riding boots with marvelous sooty glow- all seemed mysterious and wonderful to him. The quality of the shoes made by the Gessler Brothers is so good that it was not easy to wear them out and one can keep on wearing them for two years or more. They took a lot of time to create the shoes but made the best boots in London.
