The poem’s primary theme is loneliness and isolation. Here, the poet feels alone. Because of his loneliness and the quick passing of his formative years, he is now so afraid of leaving. He believes that nature is extremely vindictive towards him. The poet displays sorrow while at the same time expressing a strong sense of optimism, indicating a struggle in his mind.
