The moral of the poem When I Set Out for Lyonnesse is that tough journeys often lead to fruitful outcome. The poet sets out for a difficult journey. He has just hope and patience as his companions. There is chilling cold but it does not stop him from going on the journey as he is quite curious about it.

In order to achieve something one must face the troubles.
