The poem Where the Mind is Without Fear by Rabindranath Tagore is about the power of education. The poem’s main theme is the power of education to relieve human suffering. One can find the theme in the first stanza of the poem, which reads: “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;/Where knowledge is free;/Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls.”
This can also be found in the poem’s last stanza, which reads: “Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way amid the dreary sands of dead habit;/Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action-/
The words of the poet are addressed to God whom the poet calls his father.
