The deep core of heart symbolises poet’s soul. The soul which desires freedom from hectic city life. It desires escape from materialism, ugliness of the urban life (grey pavement) and greed.
The deep core of his heart desires peace which can be attained only in nature because nature is patient and so is the peace. Peace cannot be attained in city life because city life is characterised by greed and hate.
Hence the deep core of heart refers to the desire of poet’s soul.
