Tokens refer the qualities which humans had once in their life. e.g. innocence, ascetic nature, impartiality, love, affection, impartiality etc. They are now found in animals. Humans seem to have lost them.
The word tokens is quite relevant in the poem because the poet is of the views that these qualities symbolise a better human but now they are in animals and not in humans.
