This poem has a myriad of poetic devices, some of which are as follows:

Eye Rhyme: In order to maintain the rhyme scheme, the poem uses words that are similar but are pronounced differently. An example would be ‘are’ and care’.
Alliteration: Alliteration can be observed in the following phrase: ‘fear to fall’.
Anaphora: A repetition of the same word in successive clauses for added emphasis can also be observed. An example would be: ‘Whose passions not his masters are/Whose soul is still prepared for death’.
