    The last two lines are very significant the poem. They reveal the real purpose of the poem. According to the poet, the poem (written by him and poets like him) is like rain. It originates from its birth-place (i.e. heart of the poet) as rain originates from the bottom of earth.

    Then it goes from person to person like rain goes to all the trees. Some people love and some hate like rain is sometimes welcomed and sometimes not. However in the end, the poem brings love for the poet like trees become green because of rain.

    The poet is thus trying to show the significance of  poetry in the society.

    1. Voice of the Rain: The very title of the poem contains an image i.e. voice. The word voice is normally associated with humans. However in the poem voice depicts the sound produced by the falling rain droplets. So, the poet imagines as if the rain is singing.
    2. Soft-falling Shower: It refers to the rain droplets which are falling gently and smoothly. The make very little sound which seems to be a song to the poet.
    3. Poem of the Earth: Poet imagines rain as the poem of earth because it showers gently making very pleasant sound. It seems to the poet as if the rain is singing.
    4. Heaven: Heaven here means sky.
