The title of the poem The Lake Isle of Innisfree depicts poet’s desire to go to the island of Innisfree Lake. The lake does not simply refer to a water body. Instead, it symbolises something deep and profound. It depicts freedom, peace and a place to escape from the problems of civilization.
In the poem, the poet expresses his desire to move to the shore of this Lake because he is tired of the materialistic world. He does not like fancy life. Instead, he is interested in living a very simple life in solitude.
The title of the poem thus gives a glimpse of poet’s desire. Hence it is well suited to the content of the poem.
