According to the poet, sorrowful rain weeps in rainy tears i.e. it expresses its sorrow by raining. However the poet feels joy to listen to the sound of rain which is falling on the roof of his cottage. Again, the poet remembers his mother who is no more. He feels comfort when he memorises the warmth of her love. At the same time, he becomes sorrowful as she is no more.
