The poet describes his loneliness by comparing himself to a cloud. A cloud floats in the sky and similarly the poet “wanders” without a purpose when he comes across the daffodils. The cloud represents the poet in the sense that like the cloud, he’s alienated and detached from society. The poet is walking all by himself detached from the scenes of nature around him. Using the imagery of a cloud to highlight his loneliness, the poet creates a melancholic feeling.
