How do you politely tell someone that they forgot to pay you without being awkward?

1 Answer

  1. You want to thank them for the job they just did for you, but you’re not sure if they forgot to pay you. You could call and call them or you could text them, but you don’t want to make them uncomfortable. You don’t want to bring it up again. So you’re wondering if you should bring it up the next time you’re both in the same place. Here are some suggestions on how you can ask them to pay you:

    1. Say something like, “Hey! I appreciate what you just did for me. I’m sure it was a lot of work. I know you’ve got a ton of other stuff going on right now, but I hope you can do this one thing for me today. Can I get paid for it?”
    2. If you really want to be polite, you could say something like, “Hey, I’m sure you have a lot going on right now. But I’m glad you were able to do this for me. You don’t have to pay me for this. But if you can, can you do me one more favor today?”
    3. Or you could say, “I’m really sorry about this. I know you have a lot going on. But I hope you can do me one more favor today. It’s not a big deal. I’m just saying thanks for the work you did.”
    4. You could also ask them, “Do you mind if I just send you a quick email about this later? I’m sure it’s a lot of work for you. But I’d love to be able to give you some credit for this job you just did. Is that okay?”
