The central idea of the poem Where the Mind is Without Fear is that the society of India was ruled by British and thus people lived in fear. In addition, there were various social evils which were prevailing in the society. The people were superstitious, fragmented and uneducated.
The poet, Rabindranath Tagore, desires to gain freedom from British and also prays Almighty to free our country from all types of social evils.
