Custard, the Dragon was coward and shy in the beginning. While other animals kept boasting about their bravery and courage, Custard always cried for a nice safe cage.
He is called a cowardly dragon because he was not fierce and terrifying like other dragons in the beginning. Instead he was shy and was always irritated by others.
