In the beginning, we find that Amanda is an innocent and careless child. However after going through the lines and what she thinks, we come to know that she is subjected to continuous torture by the speaker (who is her parent).
She is constantly stopped from doing things and abused. Hence to escape from the torture she imagines. herself away from her parents. However in the end, she stops imagining. It appears that she has lost her thinking creativity. Hence she is now moody, stubborn, irritated and angry.
