The title of the poem, “Nine Gold Medals”, is significant to the plot of the poem. Usually there is one winner who is awarded the gold medal for coming first but in this poem, all the poem united together and becomes the winner of the gold medals. This shows true sportsmanship and compassion for each other even though they are the competitors. As all the nine participants wins the race, they get the nine medals hence, the title “Nine Gold Medals.”
