  1. The moral of the poem The Tale of Custard the Dragon is that we should never underestimate a person based on his looks or what others say. In the poem, Belinda and her pets consider themselves as brave and tease Custard as he always keeps crying for a nice safe cage.

    However when the pirate appears, all of them run away to save their lives except Custard who attacks the pirate fiercely and cuts him into pieces.
