The poetess represents the stages in the life of a woman with the colours of bangles in this poem. The colour and the design of a woman changes according to the changing stages of her life. The bright, rainbow coloured and shining bangles are for happy daughters and happy wives. Silver and blue bangles are for single women, purple and gold-flecked grey bangles represent older women who have experienced marriage life and motherhood. Each bangle symbolizes significant stages in an Indian woman’s life.
