Sunita Malik
The central idea of the poem Gift of India is that the brave soldiers of our country laid their lives for its (India’s) dignity. Mother India and her citizens can never forget these sacrifices. These soldiers are buried in different parts of the world. However their graves do not look scary. Instead they are fragrant and pearl-like.
Mother earth is proud of these soldiers. However at the same time, she is sad for them and cannot bear their separation (as they are buried in foreign lands).
