In the poem Keeping Quiet the phrase “to have no truck with death” means that being silent does not mean a complete association with death but rather a moment of introspection.
In the poem “Keeping Quiet”, The poet wishes peace & prosperity for all his fellow human beings. He requests all of them to stop everything for a while & remain silent so as to introspect their lives & their self centered nature. These actions would prevent people who are preparing themselves for green wars, wars with fire etc as there are no winners in a war. This displays the poet’s frustration of the wars taking innocent lives. Hence he wishes a moment of introspection & not lifeless living/ Death.
