“Child of the universe” in the poem means a part of God’s creation. Just as how God has created trees, stars, the Sun and so on, similarly God has created each and every human being for a certain purpose. They all have a right to be born and fulfill their purpose. They are all children of God’s and hence, a child of the universe, where they belong.
