The narrator on observing his friend, Jayanto, saw that he seemed to be in low spirits. But Jayanto, quickly losing his slightly preoccupied air, gave a boyish smile and said that he was actually feeling quite better. All his old memories from childhood were coming back to him. But the narrator once again saw that Jayanto had turned rather quiet after arriving in Bundi. But since he knew Jayanto to be emotional, the narrator thought he was quiet as some of his memories had returned. It was true that one might feel a little depressed when visiting a place one may have seen as a child.
