    1. Personification: It is the attribution of human characteristics to non-human things. In this poem the fan is considered as a human being who is making noise to get some oiling. As soon as it is oiled, it stops making noise
    2. Simile: It is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid e.g. As still as water.
    3. Enjambment: It is the continuation of a sentence or phrase from one line of poetry to the next. e.g. “I couldn’t quite hear what he said And I hope it doesn’t matter Because one day somebody oiled His little whirling motor And all the mystery was spoiled”.
