    1.Alliteration:

    Alliteration is a literary device in which certain sounds are repeated at the beginning of words in a sentence or phrase.

    The poet has used alliteration in the following lines.

    Somebody said that it couldn’t be done

    On his face. If he worried he hid it.

    He started to sing as he tackled the thing

    2.Refrain:

    Refrain is a literary device used in the poems to emphasise the idea to the readers. The poet has used this literary device in the last two lines of each stanza act as a refrain. It emphasises the determination of the speaker.

    He started to sing as he tackled the thing

          That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

    3.Metaphor:

    Metaphor is a literary device where two unrelated objects are compared to each other.

    The phrase “a lift of his chain” is a reference to determination and will power.

    4.Anaphora:

    Anaphora is a literary device that uses the repetition of short phrases or single words at the beginning of clauses or sentences to enhance rhythm.

    The poet has used this device in the following lines.

    There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,

          There are thousands to prophesy failure,
