Following poetic devices are used in the poem, “Desiderata”:-
1. Enjambment:- it is the continuation of a sentence with a pause beyond the end of a line, couplet or a stanza. It is seen in the poem when the speaker says “for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment/ it is as perennial as the grass.”
2. Alliteration:- it is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. For example, “however humble” or “strength of spirit.”
