In the poem Tale of Custard the Dragon, everyone except the dragon considered itself brave, fearless and courageous and all of them made fun of Custard because he was coward and always cried for a nice safe cage.
However when the pirate comes, all of them run away and hide themselves to save their lives. But Custard fought with him bravely and tore him into pieces. Hence, Custard which was considered as coward was brave in real.
