  1. Throughout the story, Fritz has been mentioned as a doll which Jayanto had received from his uncle in his childhood. His obsession with the doll kept on growing till an unfortunate incident forced them to part. Years later, Jayanto and the narrator visited Bundi, where the former had grown up and Jayanto is haunted by the fear that Fritz has come back. To ease him, the narrator suggests digging up the spot where Fritz had been buried. Instead of finding anything related to the doll, they found a twelve-inch-long, perfectly white, human skeleton. The story ended here and we, the readers, are left quite speechless. Questions like how did the skeleton, which fitted the size of a doll, came to be there and what happened to the remains of the doll. The writer has given us the pen to draw our own conclusion from this open ending.
