Indirect Speech: She said that she didn’t know anyone else had been there.
Explanation: When the reporting verb is in the past (said) and the direct speech is in the present indefinite tense (simple present tense), then the indirect (reported) speech will change into the past indefinite tense.
Present Indefinite Tense (don’t) > Past Indefinite Tense (didn’t)
And when the reporting verb is in the past (said) and the direct speech is in the past indefinite tense, then the indirect (reported) speech will change into the past perfect tense
Past Indefinite Tense (was) > Past Perfect Tense (had been)
