The little match girl talks about a little who is out on the streets on a New Year’s Eve, trying to sell matchsticks to earn money. She is cold, hungry and alone. In order to keep herself warm, she lights up the matches and in each match she sees a vision. In the first match, she sees a warm stove, in the second a roasted goose, in the third a lighted Christmas tree and in the fourth one she sees her late grandmother whom she loved the most. At the end, the little girl freezes to death and leaves earth to start her final journey with her grandmother to a place away from poverty and hunger.
