The red face foreigner was an American businessman, who met with Muni when he was grazing his goats. He was a man of a high stature and give the impression that of a policeman or a soldier. The American expected Muni to also speak the same language as him showing how indifferent he is to other cultures and languages. The character of the American represented the materialistic attributes in human. His only concern to visit the village was to buy the horse statue as a decorative item. His initial plan was to do visit India and understand the lives of the people living there but he ended up buying the statue which was of great value to the villagers.
