    The protagonist of the story, Old Man at the Bridge, was a 72 years old man who had to flee his hometown because of the war leaving his animals behind. He has travel for 12 km and did not have the energy to walk on further. Though he has safely crossed the bridge, his conscience hunted him for leaving his animals, whom he considered his family behind. The old man is deeply attached to his animals and even during the times of danger, his only concern was to take care of his animals. His appearance, with the steel-rimmed glasses and dusty clothes, paints the idea of helplessness. Being a lonely man he has no one who take care of himself. For the old man, his life surrounds around his animals and he is always worried about them especially when the war broke out.
