In the short story “A Letter to God” written by Gregorio Lopez Fuentes, a poor but very hard-working farmer looses his crop in a hailstorm and is grieved by the loss. Having strong faith in God, he writes a letter to Him seeking His divine help and requests Him 100 Passos.
The postmaster reads the letter and is moved by the innocence of the peasant. He and other employees arrange 70 Passos for him and wait for the smile on peasant’s face after receiving the money.
The farmer comes to post-office and goes away with the money. However he returns back and writes another letter to God. The postmaster open the letter. To his surprise, the farmer has requested God not to send money to post-office again as according to him, the greedy employees of Post-office had taken 30 Passos.
