When Jayanto first told the narrator that Fritz might have come to his room last night, the narrator was speechless. There was very little he could do except catch hold of his friend and shake him. The narrator was surprised as how can someone’s mind be obsessed with such an absurd idea. Finally the narrator told him that if one could dig up the exact spot where the broken doll was damaged, Jayanto would calm down about this strange fear. This was the only way to calm Jayanto down and show him that an inanimate object cannot walk by itself.
