In the poem, when one of the runners fell down, all the other participants gathered to help him and together they all completed the race. In the story, one participant helps hai rival to win the race, thereby risking his chances of winning. These two instances show that winning alone is not always important, it’s the sportsmanship spirit that’s needed. Humanity can survive if one can abandon his or her ego and embrace the true sportsmanship of life.
