When Jayanto was around six years old, he had received a doll from his uncle. Only it was not the usual kind of doll little girls play with. The doll was twelve-inch-long figure of an old man, dressed in traditional Swiss style. The man who sold the doll to Jayanto’s uncle had told him that the doll was called Fritz and it would not respond to any other name. Jayanto had a lot of toys when he was younger, but all was forgotten once Fritz came into his life. He used to play with him only. A time even came when Jayanto would spend hours just talking to Fritz and though the conversation was one-sided, Jayanto had always felt as if Fritz used to understand each and every word of his. His parents had always told him not to overdo things but he listened to no one. He had not been put in a school at that time so he had all the time in the world for Fritz. It grew into an unhealthy obsession as he was never seen separated from the doll until the unfortunate mishap happened.
