The title of the story as A Horse and Two Goats, is appropriate is it creates the driving force of the story. Even though Muni is the protagonist of the story, the conversation carried out between him and the American revolves around a horse and two goats. Because of the language barrier, Muni believed that the American was trying to buy his goats whereas the American was after the horse statue. This highlights misunderstanding of the story which is also central to the plot. The title of the story also shows the significance of materialism versus spiritualism in the form of the horse and the goats.
