Among and Amongst are the same. Its meaning is into or surrounded by or division or belonging to certain groups. They are prepositions and used mostly in the middle of the sentences. Among is old English and amongst is the middle English.
Example –
Johnson is among the top company in the world.
Distribute the apple among the students.
Zen was the last amongst to leave the cinema crew.
