The theme of friendship is prominent throughout the story. It is seen through the strong friendship between Jayanto and Shankar. Shankar stands up to his friend, never laughing at him at his absurd beliefs but always supporting him and finding solutions to the problems. Even the friendship between Fritz, Jayanto’s doll and Jayanto is mentioned here. It is an unhealthy obsession of a young boy with his doll. Jayanto’s parents had warned him not to overdo things but he never listened to anyone and gave all the time in the world to Fritz.
