Jesse Owens is an African American athlete who took part in the Olympics. He suffers from an inferiority complex when he sees his rival, a German athlete Luz Long and ends up underestimating himself so much that he plays poorly in the first two rounds. However, he bonded quickly with his rival and realized the importance of true sportsmanship and friendship in life when his rival steps in to help him win the race.
