  1. Slam poetry is a form of poetry and an interactive form of performance poetry. It originated in the United Kingdom in the early 1980s. It gained international popularity in the 1990s.
    In 2007, the Poetry Society launched the world’s first Poetry Slam competition in the UK. It featured teams of four performers and uses similar scoring rules to karaoke. The winner is the last team standing.
