In the story, The Little Match Girl, there are lot of metaphors. The metaphor of the titular matches symbolize a ray of hope for the girl as she lights them to keep herself warm. The feet represents the harsh conditions and the sufferings she is undergoing. The symbol of roast goose represents the richly pleasures which the little girl can never have on Earth.
