      1. Alliteration: An example would be ‘seasoned with slivers’.
      2. Simile:  In the lines ‘Then he lay down/to sleep like a snow-covered road’, the persona’s lying dead is compared to a ‘snow-covered road’.
      3. Metaphor: In the poem, ‘snow-covered road’ acts as a metaphor for loneliness
