    Literary devices used in the poem are:-

    1) Alliteration- is that close repetition of consonant sounds in a line for better narration. For example, In bleak and bitter cold.
    2) Personification:- is used when abstract ideas are compared to human qualities. For example:- Their logs held in death’s still hands. 
    3) Antithesis:- is a statement contrasting two things. For example when the poet says, “They didn’t die from the cold without/ They died from the cold within.”
