  1. Until now means that an event has continued to the present. It is time-sensitive and limited to the present. e.g. “until now, we do not have much sales.”

    Up to now means that an event has continued up to the present. Up to now is not time-sensitive and can be used in a sentence regardless of the time period.
    “The bank has been holding the money up to now.”
