Basic Introduction to the Poet
The teacher, in the first class, should tell the students about the poet, Vikram Seth, his small biography and major works. It will help the student to understand the nature of the poet and the circumstances under which he lived. The teacher should also highlight the major works of the poet.

Next, the teacher should give a brief introduction to the poem. He should tell about its genre i.e. Fable and its characteristics. He should then give a brief overview of the poem and also tell about the character sketch of the main two protagonists i.e. The Frog and the Nightingale.
Summary of the Poem
Now, the teacher should paraphrase the stanzas, telling the meaning of the words and the lines. In addition, he should also throw light on the rhyme scheme, imagery etc. The students should be asked to write down the meanings of difficult words and terms.
Analysis of the Poem
Finally, he should conclude the poem by telling the students about the lessons that one should learn from it.
